ABOUT BOD The Bowmen of Darenteford Archery Club is located in Dartford, Kent. The Club was founded in 1977 and celebrated its silver anniversary in 2002, marking the occasion by staging several special events. Current membership is over 80, with ages ranging from 8 to 70+ (though this is not exclusive!), and members enjoy both indoor and outdoor shooting using recurve, compound and longbows. The Club is affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS), Kent Archery Association and the Southern Counties Archery Society. Apart from our own full programme of events, members also take part in many of the tournaments organised by other local clubs - some members even representing the County. We also participate in the Mid-Kent League and several Postal Leagues. Our venue for indoor shooting is The Hesketh Park Sports Club, Pilgrims Way, Dartford, Kent (close to junction 1b of the Dartford Tunnel approach road). Outdoor shooting takes place at the Brent Junior School, London Road, Stone, Dartford (about half a mile east of the indoor venue). Please see our 'fixtures' page for dates, times and maps. As well as target shooting, the Club holds a variety of other events including mini-field shoots, clout shoots and novelty shoots - some in fancy dress to add a bit of hilarity. Of course, with the summer BBQ and Xmas shoots, it's not only the archery that attracts members and their guests! In May 2002 the Club went to France for a return match against the Guillaume Tell Archers of Dunkirk, they having visited us in 2000. A thoroughly good time was had by all, and a 'political' draw was declared leaving the way open for future events. The Club also participates in the Dartford Festival (usually 3rd weekend in July) which is where we 'meet the public' and, hopefully, attract new members. This is usually followed up by a 'have a go' day in August for one-to-one coaching prior to our comprehensive training course in the autumn. So, if you are interested in becoming a member, or would just like to come along as a visitor, we would be delighted to see you.
